George was baptised 1 May 1808 at Wickhambrook, a son of George Pettit and Elizabeth formerly Brewster.
George married Mary Bye 12 April 1839 in the Parish Church of Wickhambrook, Suffolk. George (X) was of full age, a bachelor and labourer of Baxters Green (father George Pettitt, labourer). Mary (X) was of full age, a spinster of Shop Hill (father John Bye, labourer). The witnesses were Thomas Challis (X) and Betsey Wallage (X).
Mary Bye was baptised 22 April 1815 at Wickhambrook, a daughter John Bye and Elizabeth (formerly Fenn).
In the 1841 census of Wickhambrook, George, an agricultural labourer, was living with his wife, Mary and son John. His father George was also living with them.
In the 1851 census of Baxters Green, Wickhambrook, George, an agricultural labourer, was living with his wife, Mary and children John, Susan, Charles and George. His father, George, was also living with them. He was a widower, a pauper and born at Dalham.
In the 1861 census of Lady Mead Road, Wickhambrook, George, a labourer, was with his wife Mary, and children Charles (labourer), George (labourer), Jane, William, Ann and Henry.
In the 1871 census of Baxters Green, Wickhambrook, George was living with his wife, Mary and his children Charles (ag. lab.), George (ag. lab.), Jane (afflicted), William (ag. lab.), Mary Ann, Robert and Alfred.
In the 1881 census of Baxters Green, Wickhambrook, George (ag. lab.) and Mary are with their children Charles (ag. lab.), Jane (crippled from birth) and Robert (an idiot).
In the 1891 census of Baxters Green, Wickhambrook, George and Mary are with their children Charles (ag. lab.) and Alfred (ag. lab.).
Mary died of old age 12 March 1893, at Wickhambrook, aged 80 and George died of bronchitis and senile decay, 30 June 1900, at the Union Workhouse, Kedington, aged 90.
