She was baptised 16 April 1843 at Wickhambrook, a daughter of George Pettit and Mary formerly Bye.
In the 1851 census of Baxters Green Wickhambrook, she (as Susan) was aged 8, and born at Wickhambrook.
She married Charles Edward Simpson. There is a suitable marriage in the September quarter 1872 (Risbridge 4a 699).
In 1881 Charles and Susan Simpson were living at 4 Barnsfield Place, Hillingdon, Middx. Charles was aged 34, a miller's carman, born at Denston, Suffolk and Susan was aged 38 born at Wickhambrook, Suffolk. Their children were Jonathan aged 6, David aged 3 and Joshua aged 1, all born at Uxbridge, Middx. There was also Charles' mother, Eliza Simpson, a widow, aged 60, a monthly nurse, born at Denston; and a boarder, Frederick Buckland, aged 23, a shopman (stationery), born at Iver, Bucks.
In 1891, at Bridge Road, Hillingdon, Charles E Simpson was aged 45, a carman born in Denston. His wife, Susan, was aged 49 and born at Wickhambrook. Their children were Jonathan aged 16, a gardener domestic servant, David aged 13 a milk boy and Joshua aged 11. All were born in Uxbridge.
There is a death entry for Susan Simpson in the Uxbridge district in the September quarter 1891. She was aged 49.
Charles Edward Simpson married secondly Caroline Birch in the Bromley district in the March quarter 1893.
In 1901, at Bridge Road, Hillingdon, Charles E. Simpson was aged 53, a carman in corn trade and born at Denston. His wife was Caroline aged 42 and born at Tring, Herts. There was a boarder, William Wilson, aged 21, a stone mason, with them.
In 1911, at 25 Bridge Street, Uxbridge, in 5 rooms, Charles E was aged 64, a carman, flour and miller, born at Denston. Caroline, his wife was aged 52 and born at Tring. They had been married for 7 years and had had no children. With them was a granddaughter, Evelyn Birch aged 6 and born in Hackney.
