There were no Nettleton baptisms at Bilbrough, where Sarah Nettleton said she was born according to the 1871 census of Bilbrough. There was a suitable baptism for Sarah at Healaugh, the adjacent parish with a father called James.
James was born c. 1796/7 at Micklefield, near Garforth, Yorks.
James married Hannah Dawes 16 June 1823 at Healaugh by Tadcaster.
In 1841, at Healaugh, James was 42, an agricultural labourer. With him were Hannah aged 45, Hannah aged 13, George aged 10, Martha aged 8, Margaret aged 6 and William aged 1. All were born in the county.
In 1851, at Healaugh, James was aged 54, an agricultural labourer, born at Micklefield. His wife, Hannah, was aged 57 and born at Stutton. His sons were Joseph, unmarried, aged 26, an agricultural labourer and William aged 10, both born at Healaugh.
In 1861, at Healaugh, James was aged 64, an agricultural labourer, born at Micklefield. Hannah, his wife was aged 66 and born at Stutton. There was also their grandson, Albert (sic), aged 1 and born at Healaugh.
In 1871, at Healaugh, James was aged 74, a labourer born at Micklefield. His wife, Hannah, was aged 76, receiving parish relief and born at Stutton. There were also Hannah, their daughter, unmarried and aged 43, receiving parish relief and Herbert (sic) (son) aged 11, both born at Healaugh and Martha (daughter) aged 5 and born at Tadcaster.
A suitable death registration for Hannah is in the June quarter 1873 in the Tadcaster district. She was aged 79.
A suitable death registration for James is in the March quarter 1875 in the Tadcaster district. He was aged 79.
