The Family of Martha Johnson formerly Nettleton

Martha Nettleton was baptised 9 June 1833 at Healaugh by Tadcaster, a daughter of James Nettleton and Hannah.

 

In 1841 she was aged 8, and living with her parents. 

 

In the 1851 index, at Rufforth, Martha Nettleton was a servant aged 17 and born at Healaugh, in the household of John (47) and Frances (48) Mountain.

 

In the 1861 census index, at Rawtenstall, Lancs., Martha Nettleton was a servant aged 27 and born at Tadcaster in the household of John Ormond (28 and Jane Catharine (28) Whitehead.

 

She married George Johnson in the September quarter of 1863 in the Bramham district.

 

In the 1871 index, at Tockwith, George Johnson was aged 45 and born at Acomb.  His wife, Martha, was aged 39 and born at Healaugh, and their children were Thomas aged 6 and Jane aged 4, both born at Tockwith.

 

George and Martha Johnson were not found in the 1881 census.

 

George and Martha's children were:

Thomas, born about 1864 at Tockwith.

In 1871, he was at home with his parents, aged 6 and born at Tockwith.

In 1881, at Field House, Walton in Wetherby, Thomas Johnston was an agricultural labourer (servant) aged 16 and born at Tockwith, in the household of John Firth.

Jane, born about 1866 at Tockwith.

In 1871, she was at home with her parents, aged 4 and born at Tockwith.

In 1881, at Long Marston, Yorks., Jane Johnston was a servant aged 14 and born at Tockwith, in the household of Elizabeth Acomb.
