Caleb was born 25 May 1807 and baptised 21 June 1807 at Chertsey, a son of William Searle and Ann formerly Spong.
He married Elizabeth Fory (born about 1812 at Sunbury) 14 May 1831 at Stanwell, Middx.
In the census of 1841, at Lower Halliford, Shepperton, Middx, Caleb was aged 30-34, a carpenter not born in the county. With him were Elizabeth was aged 25-29, Caleb was aged 9, Elizabeth was aged 7, Ann was aged 6, William was aged 4 and Eliza was aged 1.
In the census of 1851 at Hersham Green, Hersham, Caleb was aged 43, a carpenter and born at Chertsey. With him was his wife, Elizabeth, aged 39 and born at Sunbury, Middx. Their children were Caleb aged 19, a carpenter born at Chertsey, Ann aged 15 a servant, William aged 13, Eliza aged 11, Emma aged 9 and George aged 7 all born at Shepperton, James T aged 5, Frank aged 3 and Zebulun aged 1 all born in Hersham.
In the census of 1861 he was living at Hersham Green, Hersham aged 52, a carpenter and joiner, born at Chertsey. With him was his wife Elizabeth, aged 49 and born at Sunbury, Middx and children Ann aged 35 (? but probably 25), a laundress, born Shepperton, Rebecca? (but probably Emma) aged 19, a house servant, born Shepperton, George aged 17, a carpenter, born at Shepperton, James T aged 15, a plasterer's labourer, born at Hersham, Frank aged 13, born at Hersham, Zebulun aged 11 born at Hersham, Clara A aged 9, born at Hersham and Rosa J aged 5, born at Hersham and grandchildren Gertrude aged 3, born at Hersham, and Cornelius A aged 1, born at Chersey.
Elizabeth's death was registered in the Chertsey district in the December quarter 1866. She was aged 54.
In the 1871 census he was living at Hersham Village, aged 64, a widower and carpenter, born at Chertsey, with his unmarried daughters Clara Agnes aged 19 and Rosa Jane, aged 16, both laundresses and born at Hersham.
In the 1881 census he was living in Station Road, Walton, (widower, 76, carpenter, born Chertsey). With him was Rosa Jane (25, housekeeper, Hersham) and granddaughter (sic) Caleb A. (7, born Hersham).
His death was registered in the March quarter 1882 in the Chertsey district. He was aged 78.
