He was born about 1769/70, and not in Cambridgeshire.

He married Sarah Fordham at Hadstock, Essex, 14 October 1793. This village is only about 2 miles south of Linton.

Sarah Peters was buried at St Mary's Church, Linton, 3 May 1829, aged 60.

In 1841, at Stony Street, Linton, William was aged 70-74 and not born in the county. He was in the household of (his son) Richard Peters and his family.

William Peters was buried at St Mary's Church, Linton, 8 March 1849, aged 79.

William and Sarah's children were:

2. Jane, baptised 10 April 1796 at Linton.
3. Mary Ann, baptised 30 March 1798 at Linton.
4. Thomas, born 1 February 1801 and baptised 1 February 1801 at Linton.
5. Sarah, baptised 1 February 1801 at Linton.
6. Susannah, baptised 23 May 1805 at Linton.
7. Samuel, born 7 May 1807 and baptised 14 June 1807 at Linton.
8. Richard, born 12 June 1809 and baptised 30 July 1809 at Linton.
9. Henry, born 18 December 1810 and baptised 23 January 1811 at Linton.
