I am very grateful to Patricia Burke for information about this family.
Eleanor Vollans was born about 1875 at Brampton Bierlow (registered in the Rotherham district, September, quarter of 1875), a daughter of Joseph Vollans and Hannah (formerly Jackson)..
In the 1881 census she was at home, aged 5 and born at Brampton Bierlow.
In 1891, at 27 Park Road, Wath, she was aged 15 and a domestic servant in the household of Leonard Simpson.
She married George Henry Shaw (brother of Annie Maud Shaw who married Arthur Vollans) in the September quarter 1898, in the Rotherham district.
In the 1901 census she was living in 3 rooms at 41 Rockingham Road, Swinton. She was aged 25 and born at Brampton. Her husband, George H Shaw was aged 28, a coal miner and born at Rawmarsh. Their child was Fred, aged 6 months and born at Brampton.
In 1911, at 84 Newhill West, Melton, Near Rotherham, in 6 rooms, living with her mother Hannah Vollans, Eleanor Shaw was aged 35 and born in Melton parish. Allan Jackson Shaw (1902 – 1950), birth registered in the Rotherham district in the December

In 1939, as Alan J. Shaw (birth year 1902) he was probably
living in Warrington CB with Mabel Poulier (Shaw) and
two more whose records are closed.
He died 9 March 1950 at the Infirmary, Warrington

Causeway, Warrington and administration was granted 27 September 1950 to Mabel
Shaw, widow. His effects were

is another Alan Jackson Shaw birth registered in the Runcorn district in the March
quarter 1905 who died in the December quarter 1991 in
the Warrington district with a birth date of 27 December 1904. The marriage of Allan J. Shaw to Mabel
Smith in the Runcorn district in the September quarter 1930 is difficult to
assign!
