On 17 February 1677/8 Alexander Johnson signed, with others, a document in support of the following statement "This is to satisfie whom it may concerne that wee the inhabitants of the Chapellrie of Baslow doe make chose of Mr Joseph Fearne for our Minester whose names are here subscribed."

His will was dated 30 May 1701. He was a webster (weaver) of Baslow. His sons, Thomas, Joseph, Richard, Samson and Samuel, and his daughters, Elizabeth, Mary and Frances each received 2s 6d. His wife, Sarah, received possession of the farm at Baslow held under Rowland Eyre of Hassop 'notwithstanding that his Worship did sell the said farm to my son Thomas Johnson'. Sarah also received the residue. His executor was his wife, Sarah. He signed his name and the witnesses were Joseph Nichols, John Stafford (X) and Robert Stafford. The appraisers of the inventory were Joseph Nichols, George Bower, Joseph Matley and Joseph White. Value: £26. 1s. 0d. The will was proved at Bakewell, 29 October 1701.
