Her birth was registered in the Selby district in the December quarter 1852, a daughter of Joseph Vollans and Charlotte (formerly Turner).
In
1861, she was at home with her parents aged 6 (8?)
and born at Barlby.
She, as
Sarah Ann, married Joseph Slater Burn 1 October 1873 at Bradford. A witness was Thomas Morris who had married
her sister Mary Ann Vollans in June 1871.
In
1881, at Wood Head Lane, Burley in Wharfdale, Yorks, Sarah was aged 28 and born at Selby. Joseph was aged 33, a cattle dealer and
born at Sandall, Yorks. Their daughter was Laura aged 3 and born
at Wood Head.
In
1891, at Eldwick Cragg,
Bingley, she was aged 38. Joseph
was aged 42, a farmer and their children were Laura aged 13, Herbert aged 9,
Harry aged 7, Lucy Ellen aged 5 and Francis Slater aged 36.
In 1901
in Bradford, Sarah was aged 48 and born at Woodhouse, Yorks. Joseph was aged 52, a cab driver and
born at Sandall, Yorks, and
their children were Herbert, aged 19 a cabinet maker's apprentice, Harry
Newsome aged 17 a grocer's assistant, Lucy Helen aged 15, Francis Slater aged
13 an errand boy and all born at Eldwick, and Charles
aged 5 and born in Bradford. There
was also Ann Jenkinson aged 65, a boarder.
Sarah’s
death was registered in the Bradford district in the March quarter 1935. She was aged 82.
