The spelling can be Thwaites or Thwaite etc.
Simon Thwaite was baptised 1717, a son of Simon Thwaite and Ann formerly Cloughton.
Simon married Elizabeth Teasdale 14 November 1739 at Askrigg.
Simon of Strands made his will 31 January 1789.
He was buried at Hardraw 25 May 1789
Their children were:
1. Simon Thwaite, baptised 12 February 1742 at Hardraw (?) and of Strands Fossdale. He married Rosy Pratt of Shaw 19 April 1766 at Hardraw.
2. John Thwaite, baptised 1746.
3. Jane Thwaite, baptised 1750.
4. Ann Thwaite, baptised 3 March 1754.
5. Margaret Thwaite
6. Elizabeth Thwaite
7. Rosamund Thwaite
8. Elizabeth Thwaite
9. Agnes Thwaite, baptised at Hardraw 1759, father Simon of Strands.
10. Mary Thwaite
