The Family of Mark and Jemima Noble of Wessington

Jemima Marsden was baptised 4 November 1787 at South Wingfield a daughter of George and Mary Marsden of South Wingfield.  She (X) married Mark Noble of the parish of Crich 1 November 1815 by banns at South Wingfield. 

 

In the 1841 census at Wessington, Mark was aged 50 an agricultural labourer, Jemime was aged 50 a framework knitter, William was aged 20 a framework knitter, John was aged 15 a framework knitter, Samuel was aged 15 a framework knitter, Elizabeth was aged 12, George was aged 13 and Jonathan was aged 9.  All were born in the county. 

 

In the 1851 census at Wessington, Mark was aged 62, an agricultural labourer born at Cromford, his wife, Jemima, was aged 62 and born at South Wingfield and their son Jonathan was aged 20, an agricultural labourer born at Wessington. 

 

In the 1861 census at Cross Lane, Wessington, Jemima was a widow aged 70 a stocking framework knitter born at South Wingfield.  Her single sons were William aged 43, an ironstone labourer and Jonathan aged 28 a master butcher, both born at Wessington. 

 

Jemima Noble’s death was registered in the Chesterfield district in the June quarter 1866 aged 79. 

 

Mark and Jemima’s children were:

1.      William Noble, born about1820.  In 1841 he was a framework knitter.  He was single in 1861 and an ironstone labourer.

2.      John Noble, born about 1825

3.      Samuel Noble, born about 1825

4.      George Noble, born about 1827

5.      Elizabeth Noble, born about 1828

6.      Jonathan Noble, born about 1830, at Wessington.  He was an agricultural labourer.
