He was baptised 12 September 1773 at Chevington, a son of Richard Marshall and Susan formerly Arborn.
He (X) married Mary Moore (X), after banns, at Chevington 19 November 1801. They were both single and of Chevington, and the witnesses were Richard Marshall (X) and John Evered.
Mary Marshall was probably buried at Rede (not far from Chevington) 15 December 1804, the wife of William Marshall.
William (X) probably married again at Chevington after banns, as a widower, to spinster Susan Garwood (X), 5 July 1808. They were both of the parish. The witnesses were Jeremiah Mayhew and James Evered.
Susan the wife of William was buried at Rede 15 June 1812. The three Marshall burials (Mary 1804, Susan 1812 and infant Mary) are the only ones at Rede and the two baptisms are the only Marshall ones at Rede 1800-1820.
William, a widower of Whepstead, may have married again at Brockley, to Mary More of Whepstead, 17 November 1814. (It is an odd coincidence that his 1st and 3rd wives should have the same name!)
In 1841 at Felsham, William Marshall was aged 65 an agricultural labourer, Mary was aged 60, William was aged 35 and Elizabeth 20 and Henry Meekings Marshall aged 6 months (registered in the March quarter 1841 in the Stow district [includes Felsham]).
In 1851 at Church Road, Risby, William Marshall was aged 35 a bailiff born at Whepstead. His wife was Elizabeth aged 31 and born at Thorpe Morieux. Their children were Henry aged 10 and born at Felsham and Mary Ann aged 3 and born at Risby. With them was William’s father, William Marshall, a widower aged 79, a farm labourer and born at Chevington.
William Marshall was probably buried at Whepstead from Bury St Edmunds, 22 March 1852, aged 79.
William and 1st wife Mary’s child was probably:
John Marshall, baptised 7 November 1802 at Rede.
Mary Marshall (1804 – 1805), baptised 16 November 1804 at Rede and buried 17 March 1805 at Rede, infant of William and his late wife, Mary.
William
and 3rd wife Mary’s children were:
William Marshall, born 14 November 1815 and baptised 29 November 1815 at Whepstead (received 7 April 1816 (labourer, late More). In 1841 he was with his parents at Felsham with Elizabeth and child Henry. In 1851 he was at Risby with his wife and two children and his father was with him.
George Marshall, born 21 November 1820 and baptised 14 December 1820 at Whepstead (bailiff, late More).
