The Family of Thomas Leader ( - 1578/9) of Dullingham

He married Catherine Rannowe, 1561 at Dullingham.

 

Thomas was buried 1578/9 at Dullingham.

 

Thomas' will was dated 17 January 1578/9.  His body was to be buried at Dullingham.  He left 10 shillings to the poor of Dullingham.  His house and grounds of 4 acres he left to his wife Catherine, and after her decease to his son Richard and then to William if Richard had no heirs.  To Richard he left further lands, including Crose Meadow and Hall Meadow, Kemps (copyhold, held under the manor of Dullingham) and Flaners and Chesters (freehold), after Catherine's death and if he had no issue, then to William.  One pasture called Bollards of 4 acres, held under the manor of Dullingham, he left to William when he attained the age of 24, or on the death of Catherine if this occurred sooner.  Henry, his son was to have 7 roods of pasture called Aymes, at Wegon, in like manner.  Sons Thomas and Raffe were to have 10 acres of copyhold lands held under the manor of Stetchford, similarly.  Eight pounds was left to son John and five pounds to each of his three daughters, Johane, Ellinor and Mary, when they were 23.  Kinsman Thomas Leader was to receive 2 bushels of barley and any godchildren 12 pence each.  The residue was left to Catherine, his wife, and Richard his son both of whom he appointed his executors.  Brethren William Leader and Richard Ranowe were to be his supervisors and to receive 10s each.  The witnesses were William Tylbrooke, William Leader and Robert Tylbrooke.

 

Thomas and Catherine’s children were:

1.      Johane Leader, baptised 16 January 1563 at Dullingham.  She was mentioned in her father's will of 1578/9.

2.      Richard Leader (1564 - 1612), baptised 1564 at Dullingham.  He married Alice Course 23 January 1589 at Dullingham.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.  He was buried 17 August 1612 at Dullingham.

3.      John Leader, baptised 30 November 1564.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.

4.      Ellinor Leader, baptised 14 December 1567 at Dullingham.  She was mentioned in her father's will of 1578/9.

5.      William Leader, baptised 25 May 1569 at Dullingham.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.

6.      Mary Leader, baptised 9 December 1570 at Dullingham.  She was mentioned in her father's will of 1578/9.

7.      Henry Leader (1572 - 1645), baptised 25 July 1572 at Dullingham.  He married Mary Smith 6 July 1600 at Dullingham.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.  He was buried 3 April 1645 at Dullingham.

8.      Thomas Leader (1576 – 1624), baptised 19 February 1575 at Dullingham or 15 August 1576 at Dullingham, Cambs.  He was mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.  He married Prudence Lumkyn, 3 October 1605 at Dullingham and was buried 18 April 1624 at Dullingham, Cambs. 

9.      Raffe Leader, mentioned in his father's will of 1578/9.
