He was born 8 July 1828 and baptised 9 July 1828 at Snaith, a son of George Killingbeck (labourer) and Sarah Whilson, and 3 November 1828 at Wesleyan Methodist, Snaith, a son of George Killingbeck and Sarah Wilson of West Cowick, daughter of Richard E Wilson (should this be ‘and E’?).
In 1861, at Snaith, he was the head of the household, single and aged 32, a tailor with two apprentices and born at Cowick. With him was his mother, Sarah, a widow aged 69, a housekeeper, born at Knottingley, and his brother Francis aged 30, a coal merchant born at Cowick.
William Killingbeck married Sarah Rower in the December quarter 1861 in the Spalding district.
In 1871, at Market Place, Snaith, William was aged 42, a tailor and outfitter employing two apprentices and born at Snaith. His wife, Sarah was aged 39 and born at Moulton in Lincs. Their children were Francis William aged 8, Arthur Rower aged 6, Frederick George aged 5 and Anne Sarah aged 3, all born at Snaith. There were also David Bland aged 17 a tailors apprentice, born at Pontefract and Alice Richardson a servant aged 14 and born at Curlton.
In 1881 (transcript), at Ilex Buildings, 2, Front Row, Newchurch with Bacup, Haslingden, Lancs, William Killingbeck was aged 53, a tailor self and son born at Snaith. Sarah, his wife, was aged 50 and born in Lincs. Their children were Francis aged 18 a mechanic in cotton mill, Arthur R aged 16 a joiner apprentice, Frederick G. aged 15 a tailor, Amy (probably Ann) S. aged 13, Ada M. aged 9, Harry H. aged 8 and Florence E. aged 4. All were born at Snaith except Florence who was born at Rawtenstall, Lancs.
William’s death was registered in the December quarter 1895 in the Bury district, aged 67 (25 November 1895).
Sarah’s death was registered in the September quarter 1904 in the Bury district, aged 73.
William and Sarah’s children were:
