He was baptised 14 July 1822 at South Wingfield (framework knitter), a son of George Hawksley and Sarah, formerly Turner.
He married Charlotte Hoyland 25 September 1843 at St Thomas, Old Brampton, Chesterfield.
In 1861, at 82 Spring Street, Sheffield, Winfield was aged 39, a steel melter, born in Derbyshire (no place given). His wife, Charlotte, was aged 41 and born in Derbyshire and their children were George aged 17 a furnaceman, John aged 11 a furnaceman, Sarah aged 9 and Charlotte aged 6, all born in Sheffield.
In 1871, 94 Butter Lane, Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield, Winfield was aged 49, a steel melter, born in South Wingfield, Charlotte, his wife was aged 50 and born in Washington(?), Derbyshire, and their children were George, a steel melter aged 26 and his wife Charlotte, aged 27 and probably their daughter Emily aged 5, John aged 20 a steel melter and Charlotte, aged 17, all born in Sheffield. With them was Winfield's niece, Annis, aged 23 and born in South Wingfield. (Annis was a daughter of James and Elizabeth Hawksley.)
His death was registered in the Sheffield district, in the March quarter 1877 (9c 274). He was aged 56.
