The Family of Harry Ellerbeck (1883 – 1956) of Tadcaster and Manchester

Harry Ellerbeck was born about 1883/4 at Bilbrough or Askham, a son of Thomas Ellerbeck and Anne formerly Dickinson.  There is a registration (the only one between 1880 and 1885) for a Harry Ellerbeck, in the December quarter 1883 in the York district.  Askham Richard is close to Bilbrough and was part of the registration district of York in 1883.

 

In 1891 he was living at home, aged 7, born at Askham.

 

In 1901 he was living with Frederick at Prospect Place, Tadcaster, a joiner3 aged 17 and born at Bilbrough.

 

He married Alice Maud Estcourt in the Chorlton district in the December quarter 1909.  Chorlton district included south Manchester.

 

In 1911, at 27 Beverley Street, Moss Side, Manchester in 5 rooms, he was aged 28, a joiner (Building) and born at York (Bilbrough/Askham is not far from York), with Alice Maud aged 31 born in Manchester and Irene aged 9 months born in Manchester.  Harry and Alice had been married for 18 months and had had 2 children of whom one had died.

 

In 1939 (register) at 22 Crofton Street, Manchester CB, Harry Ellerbeck with a date of birth 26 October 1883 was a builders joiner, heavy worker, with Alice M date of birth 12 December 1879, and 1 whose record is closed.

 

His death (as Harry Ellerbeck) was registered in the Manchester district in the June quarter 1956.  His age was 72.

 

Harry and Alice’s children were:

Doris Ellerbeck (1910 – 1910), a twin, birth and death registrations in the June quarter 1910 in the Chorlton district.

Irene Ellerbeck, a twin, birth registration in the June quarter 1910 in the Chorlton district

Edith Ellerbeck, birth registered (mother’s maiden name Estcourt) in the December quarter 1911 in the Chorlton district.
