Marianne Diss was baptised 17 September 1829 at Horseheath, a daughter of Thomas Diss and Elizabeth formerly Halls.
In 1841 she was at home with her parents, aged 12, born in Cambridgeshire.
She had a son, Albert, by Frederick Olley, baptised 14 February 1850 at Carlton (spinster of Carlton). Albert was buried 5 April 1850, aged 4 months.
In 1851 she was at home with her mother, unmarried, aged 21 and born at Horseheath. She may have had a son, William, born about December 1850 at Carlton. There is a burial of William Diss, infant, 21 May 1851, at Carlton (of Carlton Green).
She married John Hulyer Symonds, 30 June 1855, at Carlton, after banns. John was a bachelor aged 23 and labourer of Carlton, a son of John Symonds (no occupation). Mary Ann was a spinster aged 25 of Carlton (father's name left blank). The witnesses were William Martin and Emma Crick.
In 1861 at Brinkley Road, Carlton, Mary A.H. Symonds was aged 31 and born at Horseheath. Her husband, John H. Symonds was aged 28, an agricultural labourer, born at Carlton. With them was Polly Diss aged 6 and William J.H. Symonds aged 3, both born at Carlton.
John Hulyer Symonds was buried 11 October 1862 at Carlton aged 32.
In 1871, at Thurlow Road, Carlton, Mary Ann H. Symonds was a widow aged 42, a charwoman born at Horseheath. With her were her children Polly D.H. Symonds aged 16, William John Symonds aged 13, an agricultural labourer, Harriet Symonds aged 9 and John Symonds aged 7. They were all born in Carlton.
In 1881 she, as Mary Ann, was living at Carleton Green, Carlton, a widow, aged 51, a charwoman and born at Horseheath. With her were an unmarried daughter, Polley Diss aged 26 an agricultural labourer, an unmarried son, John Symonds, aged 17, an agricultural labourer, a grandson, Edward Jr. Diss, aged 7 and a granddaughter Emma E. Diss aged 2, all born at Carleton.
In 1891, at Carlton Green, Mary Ann Symonds was a widow, aged 81, (must be 61), a charwoman employed, born at Horseheath with her grandson Edward Diss aged 15, an agricultural labourer, born at Carlton.
In 1901, at Thurlow Road (Cottage), Carlton Green, Mary A. Hulyer Symonds was a widow, aged 71, a pauper late husband labourer on farm, born at Horseheath. With her was her grandson Edward L (?) Diss aged 27, a horseman on farm, born at Carlton.
Mary Ann Symonds was buried 14 November 1908 at Carlton (of Carlton Green) aged 78.

Albert Diss (1850 - 1850), by Frederick Olley, born about December 1849 and baptised 14 February 1850 at Carlton (spinster of Carlton). Albert was buried 5 April 1850, aged 4 months.
William Diss (1850 - 1851), born about December 1850 and buried 21 May 1851 at Carlton.
John and Mary Ann's children were:
Polley Diss, born about 1854/5 at Carlton. She was baptised 1 July 1855 - the day after the marriage - at Carlton, (a daughter of John and Mary Ann Symonds, of Willingham Green, labourer). Her father would seem to be John Symonds.
In 1881 she was living at home.
Her children were
Edward John Diss (1873 - 1933), born at Carlton, birth registered in the September
quarter 1873 in the Linton district (3b 524).
In
1881 he was an agricultural labourer living at home.
He
married Amina Grace Thurza
Green, 24 October 1908 at Carlton, after banns.
He was aged 33, a bachelor and labourer of Carlton Green (no father's
name). She was aged 28, a spinster of
Carlton Green, a daughter of Samuel Green, a labourer. The witnesses were Walter Basham and Ada Basham.
He
was buried 25 February 1933 at Carlton aged 59.

Raymond Edward Diss, born 14 June 1912 and baptised 11 August 1912 (Carlteton Green, horsekeeper).
Emma Ellen Diss, born 10 July 1878 and baptised 9 November 1879 at Carlton (singlewoman, of Carlton Green).
William John Symonds, baptised 23 August 1857 at Carlton (John Hulyer and Mary Ann Symonds, of Carlton, labourer).
Harriet Symonds, baptised 23 June 1861 at Carlton (John Hulyer and Mary Ann Symonds, of Carlton, husbandman).
Harriet had a son, William Tom Wilson, born 19 January 1882 and baptised 13 January 1882 at Carlton (of Carleton, singlewoman).
Harriet Hulyer Symonds married Harry Gregory 8 October 1887 at Carlton. Harriet was aged 26, a spinster of Carleton Green, a daughter of John Hulyer Symonds, a labourer. Harry was aged 21, a bachelor and labourer of Carleton, a son of Walter Gregory, a labourer. The witnesses were William J.H. Symonds and Anna Elizabeth Couir (?).
Harriet's child was
William Tom Wilson Symonds, born 19 January 1882 and baptised 13 January 1882 at Carlton (of Carleton, singlewoman).
Harriet and Harry's children were
Ernest Harry Gregory, baptised 20 July 1890 at Carlton (of 9 Workman Road, Jerian (?), Angel Road, Upper Edmonton, labourer).
