He was baptised 1 April 1814 at Bilbrough, a son of John Dickinson and Mary, formerly Wilson.
In 1851 (Index) at Bilbrough, John was aged 36 and born at Bilbrough, with Elizabeth aged 35.
In 1861 (Index) in the Great Ouseburn district he was aged 46 born at Bilbrough with Elizabeth.
In 1871 (Index) in Rufforth, he was aged 57 and living with Elizabeth.
In 1881, at Rufforth, Yorks., he was aged 67, a master carpenter, born at Bilbrough. His wife, Elizabeth, was aged 67 and born at Bramham, Yorks. There was also a granddaughter, Emily Hainsworth, aged 4 and born at Rufforth.
His death was registered in the Great Ouseburn district (includes Rufforth) in the December quarter 1886. He was aged 72. He died 20 December 1886 and was buried at All Saints, Rufforth with his daughter and grand-daughter. The gravestone reads “In affectionate remembrance of Mary Ann daughter of J and E Dickinson of Rufforth who departed this life March 19 1874 aged 32 years also of Annie Elizabeth daughter of GE and M Hainsworth of Rufforth who departed this life March 24th 1875 aged 4 months also of the above named John Dickinson who died December 20 1886 aged 72 years”.
Elizabeth’s death was registered in the Great Ouseburn district in the March quarter 1898. She was aged 84. She was buried at All Saints, Rufforth. Her gravestone reads “In Loving memory of Jane Ellis wife of John Ellis died 30 March 1898 aged 54 years ‘Thy will be done’ Also Elizabeth Dickinson her mother died 19th February 1898 aged 84 years”.

Margaret Dickinson, She married George Edward Hainsworth in the Great Ouseburn district in the December quarter 1873.
George and Margaret’s children were

March 1875 aged 4 months and was buried at All Saints, Rufforth
