The Family of Lucretia Celia Pammenter, late Casbolt formerly Cutter (1852 – 1917)

She was baptised 9 May 1852 at Little Abington, a daughter of William Cutter and Sarah formerly Diss.

In 1861 she was at home aged 9.

 

In 1871, at High Street, Linton, Lucretia Celia Cutter was aged 18, an unmarried general servant, born at Little Abington, in the household of Richard Holttum, a draper and grocer, aged 54 and born in Kent.

 

She married Charles William N. Casbolt 2 November5 1878 at Linton.

 

In the 1881 census she was living at 7 Market Lane, Linton.  She was aged 29 and born at Little Abington.  Her husband, Charles, was aged 26, an agricultural labourer, born at Linton.  Their daughter Emily was aged 1 and born at Linton.

 

In 1891, at Market Lane, Linton, in 4 rooms, Charles was aged 36, an employed agricultural labourer, born at Linton.  His wife, Lucretia, was aged 39 and born at Little Abington.  Their children were Emily, aged 11, Agnes aged 8, Thomas aged 4 and Dora aged 2 months.  All were born in Linton.

 

Charles William N. Casbolt died in the June quarter 1891 in the Linton district.  He was aged 36.

 

In the 1901 census of Market Lane, Linton (4 rooms), Lucretia was a widow aged 50, a laundress, working on her own account at home, born at Abington.  Her children were Tom aged 14 and Dora, aged 10, both born at Linton.

 

Lucretia married secondly Stephen Pammenter in 1902 in the Linton district.

 

In 1911, in Market Lane, Linton, in 4 rooms, Lucretia Pamenter was head of the household and married for 8 years, aged 60 and a charwoman, born at Little Abington.  Crossed out was that she had had 4 children of whom none had died.  This probably refers to her marriage to Charles Casbolt.  (Her husband Stephen Pamemter sic, was elsewhere in Linton and aged 63).  With her was her son, Tom Casbolt, single and aged 24, a farm labourer born in Linton and her grandson, Norman George Casbolt aged 7 and born in Linton.

 

Stephen Pammenter’s death was registered in the Linton district in the June quarter 1913.  He was aged 65.

 

Lucretia Pammenter’s death was registered in the Linton district in the June quarter 1917.  She was aged 66.

 

Lucretia and Charles’ children were:

Emily Casbolt, born 1879 at Linton.  She married Thomas Turner in 1910 March quarter, in the Linton district.  In 1911 (Index) in the Linton district, Emily was aged 32 and born in Linton and Thomas was aged 33.  (They appear to have had no children).

Agnes Casbolt, born about 1882 at Linton.  In 1911, in Bassenhally Field Whittlesey (workhouse), she was aged 27, single and Matron’s domestic servant and born at Linton.

Tom Casbolt, born 1886 at Linton.

Dora Casbolt, born about January 1891 at Linton.  In 1911 (Index) in the Linton district she was aged 20 and born in Linton.  No other Casbolts were with her.
