The Family of George Turner

He was baptised 16 July 1826 at Enford, of West Chisenbury, parish of Netheravon (labourer).

He married Hannah.

In the 1861 census of Littlecott, Enford he was aged 35, an agricultural labourer, born at Enford. Hannah was aged 40, born at Bulford and their children were George 12 an agricultural labourer, Fanny 8, Gilbert 7, Emma 3 and Mary A. 1, all born at Enford. He was buried at Enford (of Littlecott) on 4 February 1870, aged 46 years.

George and Hannah's children was:

  1. George. He was born about 1848/9. He was baptised 6 June 1858 at Enford (of Littlecote, labourer). There are two entries in the 1881 census for George aged 31 and born at Enford. One is at 7 Alex Road, Richmond, Surrey and the other is at Mile Elm, Calne, Wilts. They were both labourers and in fact were second cousins. The other George was the son of William and Elizabeth Turner and he was born 20 April 1850 and baptised 20 May 1850 at Enford (of Compton). Since George's uncle, Henry, moved to Warfield, and the George at 7 Alex Road, Richmond had a wife who was born at Warfield, it suggests that this George is the one at 7 Alex Road. He was aged 31, a labourer and born at Enford. His wife, Mary, was aged 28 and born at Warfield. Their children were George, aged 7 and born at Mortlake, Surrey, Henry George, aged 4 and born at Whitechapel, London and Charles William aged 2 also born at Whitechapel, London.
  2. Fanny Maria. She was born 1 August 1851 and baptised 28 September 1851 at Enford (of East Chisenbury, labourer).
  3. Gilbert. He was born about 1853 at Enford. In 1881 he was living at 10 Greenlands Court, Devizes (St Mary). He was aged 27, a general labourer. His wife, Ann, was aged 26 born at Pewsey, and his children were George, aged 4 and Frederick aged 1, both born at Devizes.
  4. Emma Kate. She was baptised 4 April 1858 at Enford (of Littlecote, labourer).
  5. Mary Ann. She was born 25 December 1859 and baptised 6 May 1860 at Enford (of Littlecote, labourer). In 1881 she appears to be a general servant, unmarried and aged 22, born at Enford, in the house of Walter H. Head, aged 62, a trimming seller, of 192 Sloane Street London.
  6. Annie Harriett. She was born 20 June 1862 and baptised 3 August 1862 at Enford (of Littlecott, labourer).
  7. Albert Charles. He was born 11 September 1864 and baptised 1 January 1865 at Enford (of Littlecott, labourer). He was buried at Enford (of Littlecott) 20 December 1867 aged 3 years.
