This page is ‘a work in progress’ so should be treated with caution. I am very grateful to ‘Cloghopper’ for information in his account of the Thwaites of Abbotside.
The spelling can be Thwaites or Thwaite, Whaites etc.
Christopher Thwaite was baptised 1655, a son of Simon Thwaite and Mary.
Christopher married Mary Roland.
He may have been buried 12 August 1690 at Askrigg as Christopher Whaites of Simonstone, poor.
Christopher and Mary’s children were:
Simon Thwaite, baptised 4 September 1687 at Askrigg, eldest son of Christopher of Helm. He married Ann Cloughton (daughter of William Cloughton) 2 May 1713 at Askrigg.
