Louisa Augusta Osborn (1819 – 1899)

 

She was born 20 February 1819 and baptised 3 March 1819 at St Andrew Holborn, a daughter of Henry Osborn (Grays Inn Terrace, stable keeper) and Elizabeth. 

 

She married George Anderson, (a brother of John who married her sister, Isabella) 2 November 1837 at St Luke’s, Norwood [1] (registered in the December quarter 1837 in the Lambeth district).

 

In 1841, she and George were living with her sister Isabella and John at 43/43a Green Street, Grosvenor Square, where John had a horse-dealing business [1].

 

George probably died between 1851 and 1861 [1].

 

In 1881 (transcript) at 43 Ordnance Road, Marylebone, in the household of her son in law, she, Louisa A. Anderson, a widow, was aged 62 and born in London.

 

Her death was registered in the Brighton district in the June quarter 1899.  She was aged 80.

 

George and Louisa’s child(ren?) was

1)             Katherine Augusta Anderson (1845 – 1918), born in the September quarter 1845 in the district of St George Hanover Square.  She married John Beattie Crozier in the March quarter 1878 in the Marylebone district.  John studied philosophy and economics as well as practising medicine and was a published author.

In 1881 at 43 Ordnance Road, Marylebone, John B. Crozier was aged 30, a general practitioner LRCP born in Canada.  His wife, Katherine A was aged 35 and born in London.  Their children were Gladys aged 2 and a male infant, both born in London.  With them were 3 servants and John’s widowed mother in law, Louisa A. Anderson, aged 62 and born in London. 

In 1891, John B and Katherine A Crozier with their children including Percy aged 10, are at 9 Elgin Avenue, Paddington, London. John B Crozier was a General Practitioner of Medicine.

Katherine’s death was registered in the Paddington district in the December quarter 1918.  She was aged 73.  John died 8 January 1921 in the Paddington district.  He was aged 71.

John and Katherine’s children were:

a)                  Gladys Crozier, birth registered in the September quarter 1878 in the Marylebone district.  She was an author and took the additional name of Beattie.

b)                 Percy Beattie Crozier (1881 – 1913), the only son, born in 1881 in St John’s Wood and birth registered in the June quarter 1881 in the Marylebone district.  He married Anne Burslem Smith and was killed in action 19 May 1915 in Northern France.  He was aged 34.  He lived at Wroxall, Isle of Wight and had two daughters, Auriol (an artist) and Cynthia, and a son John who died 15 January 1913 aged 3 days.
