Henry
David Osborn
Henry David
Osborne was baptised 7 May 1809 at St Andrew Holborn, London, a son of Henry Osborn and Elizabeth.
He married by
licence Sarah Ann Farlow, 20 April 1830, at St
Matthew, Brixton, Surrey. They were bachelor and spinster of the parish
and the witnesses were JH Barnes, Mary Farlow,
William Comber and I (?) Dear*land (?).
In 1851, at 12
Grays Inn Terrace, he was aged 42, a horse merchant and born in St Andrew
Holborn. His wife, Sarah Ann was aged 43
and born in Temple. Their children were

M. aged 10 months. All were born in St
Andrew Holborn. There were also three
servants, a cook, a housemaid and a nurse.
By 6 January
1854 under a codicil to his father, Henry’s will, Henry junior had received his
inheritance of £700. He had also left
the co-partnership business with William Banks and his father, Henry. It seems that he and his family emigrated to
Australia at about this time, for there was a notice printed in The Argus
(Melbourne Victoria) 20 April 1898 “If the children of Henry David Osborn who
carried on business in Grays Inn Lane about the year 1853 as a livery stable
keeper will apply to Messrs Routh Stacy and Castle 14
Southampton Street Bloomsbury London they will hear something to their
advantage”.
