The Family of Susanna Espin formerly Killingbeck (1790 – )

Susanna Killingbeck was born 14 July 1790 and baptised 18 July 1790 at Drax, a daughter of George, labourer of Camblesforth (a son of Thomas, labourer of Camblesforth by Sarah) and Sarah (daughter of Thomas Thompson of Doncaster, labourer by Sarah).

 

XShe married XThomas Espin 9 June 1812 at Drax after banns.  They were both of Camblesforth and the witnesses were Thomas Wand and John Thompson.

 

Susanna died before 1841.

 

Thomas married secondly Mary.

 

In 1841, at Leathley Lane, Hunslet, Leeds, Thomas was aged 50, a shoemaker.  With him were Mary aged 38, Sarah aged 18, Joseph aged 15 and Mary aged 13.  All were born in the county.  The names and ages of the children confirm this is the correct family.  Thomas has evidently married again.

 

Thomas and Susannah’s children, all baptised at Snaith and of Snaith, shoemaker/cordwainer with maiden name of mother as Killingbeck were:

George Espin, baptised 21 April 1814 at Snaith.

William Espin, baptised 12 May 1815 at Snaith.  In 1841, at Fawcett Buildings, Myrtle Street, Hunslet, Leeds, William was aged 25 a shoe maker.  With him was Harriet aged 30.  Both were born in the county.  In 1851, at 10 Brougham Street, Hunslet, William was a master boot and shoe maker born at Snaith.  His wife was Harriet aged 40 and born in Hunslet.  Their daughter was Susanna aged 7 and born in Hunslet.  William’s brother Joseph aged 26 and a labourer born in Hunslet was also with them.

George Espin, bapyised 7 April 1819 at Snaith.

Peggy Espin, baptised 18 May 1821 at Snaith.

Sarah Espin, baptised 31 January 1823 at Snaith.

Joseph Espin, baptised 8 August 1824 at Snaith.

Joseph Espin, baptised 12 February 1826 at Snaith.  In 1841 he was with his father.  In 1851 he was with his brother William.

Mary Espin, baptised 16 September 1827 at Snaith.
