The Family of John Foolkes ( - 1633)

He was buried 5 August 1633 at Stetchworth (BTs, registers start 1666).

 

His will (VC 27:374 1633 CW) was dated 18 April 1629.  He was the elder of Stetchworth.  He was to be buried at Stetchworth.  He left the house where he was living with its buildings and lands to his son, John Fookes, and Sarah his wife, and at their decease to John the younger's son Simon.  Simon was also to have a pasture called Bricklings (5 acres) and an acre of arable called Molland, towards Reach in the fields of Stetchworth.  He left to his Foolkes grandchildren, Anne a rocking cradle and four cushions, Maria his warming pan and a table and (codicil) and Sarah his second best pair of sheets.  His daughter, Maria Purvey, was to have a pair of sheets, a coverlet and a towel.  Certain fixtures and fittings were to be left in the house.  The residue was left to John whom he appointed his executor.  The witnesses were Simon B and Robert Simons.  Signed X John Fookes

 

John's children were:

 

1.      John Foolkes ( - 1655).  He married Katherine Rainewe 30 October 1614 at St Giles' Cambridge by licence.  He was a beneficiary under his father's will of 1629.  He was buried 5 September 1655.

 

2.      Maria Foolkes,  She married a Purvey.  She was a beneficiary under her father's will of 1629.
