She was baptised at Selston, Notts., 20 September 1829, a daughter of William Elliott and Elizabeth formerly Barlow.
In 1841, she was at home with her parents, aged 10 and born in the county.
In 1851, Elizabeth, unmarried, aged 21 and born at Ironville, was in the household of her brother-in-law and sister, Joseph and Sarah (Beanes), at Ironville Row, Ironville. Sarah was aged 32, 11 years older than Elizabeth.
She married Henry Wardle, possibly in the Belper district in the March quarter 1854.
In 1861, at 8 Library Terrace, Ironville, in the same dwelling as William and Elizabeth Elliot, Elizabeth's parents, were Henry Wardle (head) aged 41, a coal miner underbil…(?) born at Somercotes (?) and his wife, Elizabeth, aged 31, a dress maker born at Ironville.
In 1871, at Tanners Lane, Codnor (Codnor and Loscoe), Henry Wardle was aged 51, a miner, born at Somercoates, and Elizabeth was aged 41, a dressmaker born at Ironville.
In 1881, at Leabrooks, Alfreton, Henry Wardle was a grocer, aged 61 and born at Alfreton and his wife, Elizabeth was aged 51, a dressmaker, born at Ironville. As a boarder with them was William Elliott, aged 90, a retired iron labourer, born at Staveley.
Henry Wardle died 9 March 1886 at Lea Brooks (registered in the Alfreton sub-district in the March quarter 1886, aged 66). Probate was granted at Derby 13 September 1886 to Elizabeth Wardle, his widow. He was a coal miner of Lea Brooks, Alfreton and his personal estate was £226.10s.6d.
In 1888 at Riddings, Thomas Shipman of Armley, near Leeds, married Mrs Elizabeth Wardle of Lea Brooks. Elizabeth Shipman aged 68 was buried 3 February 1898 at St Thomas, Somercoates (giving a birth year of c. 1830). Neither Thomas nor Elizabeth has been found in the 1891 census. Thomas Shipman died 15 May 1900 at Lea Brooks. Administration with will was granted at London 2 July 1900 to Bessie Shipman, spinster. His effects were £355.1s.6d. His death was registered in the Belper district aged 69.
Elizabeth and Henry appear to have had no children.
