Susannah Elizabeth Eastland was born 10 October 1830 and baptised 12 January 1831, at St James Westminster, a daughter of Charles Eastland and Amelia Banks.
She married William George Townsend in the Lambeth district in the December quarter 1848.
In 1851 at 14 Triangle, Peckham, William G was aged 27 an outfitting warehouseman born in Lambeth. Susannah was aged 21 and born in Piccadilly. Their children were Susannah aged 1 born in Islington and William F. aged 3 months and born in Camberwell. There was also Amelia Eastland, sister-in-law aged 12 and born in Middx St Giles.
In 1861, at 5 Chapel Street, Stockwell, Lambeth, William G was aged 37 a labourer born in Lambeth. His wife, Susannah was aged 30 and born at St James, Middx. Their children were Susannah aged 12 and born in Hornsey, William aged 10 and born in Camberwell, Arthur aged 4 and born in Walworth and Emily aged 4 months and born in Lambeth. There was another family lodging with them with the surname of Norman.
In 1871 at 5 Chapel Place, Stockwell, Lambeth, Willliam George was aged 45, a plumber born in Lambeth. His wife, Susannah was aged 39 and born in Lincoln’s Inn Field. Their children were William aged 20 a plumber’s labourer born in Old Kent Road, Arthur aged 15 born in Camberwell, Emily aged 10 and born in Lambeth, Harry aged 9 and Edwin aged 1 both born in Stockwell. There was a lodger with them.
William George Townsend’s death was registered in the March quarter 1878 in the Lambeth district. He was aged 51.
In 1881 (transcript) at 92 Lingham Street, Lambeth, Susannah E. was a widow, aged 49, a laundress born in St James. Her children were William Fred aged 20, a bricklayer’s labourer, born in Southwark, Emily aged 20 a domestic servant born in Lambeth, Harry aged 18 a carman born in Lambeth and Edwin aged 12, born in Lambeth.
The family has not yet been located in 1891.
Susannah Elizabeth Townsend’s death was registered in the Lambeth district in the March quarter 1895. She was aged 63.
William and Susannah’s children were:
