The Family of Elizabeth Jerrison formerly Crossley (1875 – 1954) of Leeds and Sheffield

Elizabeth Crossley was born 6 March 1875 (1939 register) Leeds, a daughter of William Crossley and Sarah Ann formerly Kerton.  She was registered in Leeds West (WEST/117/444) in 1875, GRO reference March quarter 1875, Leeds 9b 545.

 

In the 1881 census she was living at home with her parents, aged 6, born in Leeds. 

 

In 1891, Elizabeth, aged 16, a dressmaker's apprentice, was at home with her parents and born in Leeds.

 

She married Herbert Jerrison in the June quarter 1902 in the Sheffield district, born 1875 in Sheffield and died December 1954 in Sheffield (registered in the December quarter 1955 in the Sheffield district aged 81).

 

In 1911 at 40 Old Hall Road, Attercliffe, Sheffield, in 4 rooms were Elizabeth aged 36 and born in Leeds, Herbert aged 36 an electrical crane driver born in Sheffield,  They had been married 9 years and had had two children both of whom were living.  They were Walter aged 3 and Amy Thwaites aged 1, both born in Sheffirld.  There was also a boarder, Francis Henery Crossley (brother of Elizabeth) aged 26 a patent glazier, born in Leeds.

 

In 1939 at 29 Fleet Street, Sheffield, Herbert was an electric crane driver with a birth date of 6 December 1874.  With him was Elizabeth Jerrison, with a birth date of 6 March 1875.

 

Elizabeth died in January 1954 (registered in the March quarter 1955 in the Sheffield district aged 79).

 

Elizabeth and Herbert’s children were

Walter Jerrison (1907 – 1971), born 10 April 1907 (registered in the December quarter in the Sheffield district).  He died 6 June 1971 in Sheffield.  He married Minnie Gosling (born 31 March 1908 in Sheffield and died January 1985 in Sheffield) in the September quarter 1933 in the Sheffield district.  In 1939 at 71 Godric Road, Sheffield, Walter was a steel rod roller (heavy worker) with a date of birth of 4 October 1907.  With him was Minnie with a date of birth 31 March 1908, and Emma Gosling with a date of birth 27 March 1876, widow.  There was one other whose record is closed.

Amy Thwaites Jerrison (1909 – 2001), birth registered in the March quarter 1910 in the Sheffield district.  She married Stanley Joseph Barrow Pick in the Glanford Brigg district in the September quarter 1935.  In 1939 (register) at 48 Bushfield Road, Scunthorpe, Stanley Joseph Barrow Pick was a boot and shoe repairer with a birth date of 20 January 1911.  With him was Amy Thwaites Pick, with a birth date of 13 December 1909.  There was one other whose record is closed.  Amy Thwaites Pick’s death was registered in the March quarter 2001 in the North Lincolnshire district with a birth date of 13 December 1909.
